Businesses advised on SEO methodology

Companies looking to improve their online rankings through search engine optimisation (SEO) have been issued advice by one online commentator.

David Amberland wrote in a blog for ZD Net that the SEO-savvy business will always look to define the end result it is aiming for in a single line of text. In this way, this succinct nugget of information can be relayed to those who will be carrying out SEO services in a clear and concise manner.

He claimed: "What you need to do, as a manager or small business owner, is co-ordinate the initiatives which are being put in place and make sure that the SEO part of your business understands what needs to be achieved."

Elsewhere, SEO Consult reported that companies could boost SEO rankings by defining their niche.

The publication also claimed one of the oldest tricks for boosting SEO results is to mine competitors' sites - this is not as drastic a measure as it sounds, it simply means finding out what sites are linking to a web page - as these sites could be linked to a firm's own pages.
